The
University of Texas Men's and Women's Rugby Clubs are always looking
for talented, hard working young rugby players to join our ranks.
Are you a high school student considering UT? Are you a current
student, or a potential transfer to UT? Are you a serious athlete
that misses being part of a competitive sports program? We're looking
for athletes that relish a challenge. If you fit the bill, then
the UT Rugby Clubs might be for you.
Not sure
what Rugby is? That's o.k. If you are willing to make the commitment,
we'll teach you. Experience is helpful, but not a requirement. The
USA Rugby
Spectator's Guide can help you out with discovering more about
our sport.
Rugby uses
a variety of skills, some of which include passing, kicking, and
running with the ball.

Practice is
open to all UT undergraduate men and women. We hold practices at
the UT IM Fields. Men practice Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00 -
9:00pm and on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:00pm. The women's team practices
on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-8:00pm. Games are played on
Saturday. Our players benefit from USA Rugby certified coaches and
a professional medical staff, both doctors and trainers, on hand
at practices and games.
At this time, the Rugby
Club does not offer any scholarships; however, the University has
many different types of scholarship opportunities available for
its students. Go to TexasScholarships.org
for more details.
There is also a Graduate
Rugby Team that plays in the TRU Men's Division III for graduate
students and others that do not meet our eligibility requirements.
See our Player Info page for
more on eligibility.
Overseas
Students:
Are you and undergraduate
student thinking of doing an exchange at the University of Texas
at Austin? It's a good choice: the Times
of London has ranked UT as one of the top 20 universities in
the world. Every year, we have numerous overseas players join our
club while doing their exchange. Players from Australia, Ireland,
Scotland, England, Belgium, New Zealand, Argentina, France, Zimbabwe
and South Africa have become international Longhorn ruggers.
Exchange students have
enjoyed the quality rugby the club offers, in conjunction with university
classes, enabling them to get the most out of their UT exchange
experience. You will have the time of your life, make new friends
and discover our University,
the city of Austin
and the state of Texas.
